‘Superman: Legacy’ Casts David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan as Clark Kent and Lois Lane

A new Clark Kent and Lois Lane have been knighted by DC Studios. James Gunn’s “Superman: Legacy” will star David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan.

In January, Gunn and fellow DC steward Peter Safran laid out their narrative plans for the latest on-screen iteration of the iconic comic book hero. At the fictional newspaper The Daily Planet, Corenswet will play cub reporter Kent, who made a name for himself in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series “Hollywood.” Brosnahan will play his coworker.

Gunn is directing the project from a screenplay he wrote based on the character created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.  The film will be produced by Safran (“Aquaman,” “Aquaman 2,” and The Conjuring franchise). On July 11, 2025, the project will be released.

Safran and Gunn unveiled a lengthy list of planned DC films and series earlier this year. “It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing.” He represents truth, justice, and the American way. In a world that considers kindness old-fashioned, he is kindness.”

The actor’s marquee idol looks and Midwestern charm helped him anchor “Hollywood,” where he played an aspiring actor moonlighting as a sex worker in the buttoned up 1940s. In addition to Netflix’s “The Politician,” he also starred in A24’s acclaimed horror indie “Pearl.” In addition, he wrote, directed and starred in the web comedy series “Moe & Jerryweather.” He will next appear opposite Natalie Portman in Apple’s “The Lady In The Lake.” He is represented by CAA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner & Klein.

As a former star of the long-running Amazon show “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” Brosnahan has a well-established profile and an impressive collection of golden awards. Her breakthrough came with Netflix’s “House of Cards.” She recently starred opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in Lionsgate’s “The Courier,” and alongside Christoph Waltz and Willem Dafoe in director Walter Hill’s 2022 western “Dead For a Dollar.” CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners represent her.
